Berrington Hall
This gorgeous National Trust site, near Leominster over the border in Herefordshire (HR6 0DW) provides a fabulous day out for the whole family.
There is ample, free parking with clean and well maintained toilets situated in the car park. There is also a cafe and second hand bookshop on site.
The grounds, which were designed by Capability Brown, offer scope for a range of scenic walks taking in the walled gardens, parkland and serpentine pool. There is also a play area overlooking parkland, just a short walk from the mansion. The play area includes a slide, swings, willow tunnel and wooden xylophone.
Berrington Hall itself is a neoclassical 18th-century mansion designed by Henry Holland and home to the Harley, Rodney and Cawley families. History fans will love the chance to don a selection of costumes as they move through the house.
